Icebergs that one in front is the brother of the one that sank the titanic .Only kidding its to small ,when you turn into the fiord that takes you to the sawyer glacier you begin to see icebergs some are small some are quite big but they are quite safe the ship actually goes over quite a few its all very exiting you can just see the bigger sawer glacier click on the photo you might get a better picture

we have now traveled to the sawyer glacier

there are two of them this one is the smallest of them .A tip if you are on a cruise boat go to the stern of the ship get your self a nice table get your self a nice drink sit down and wait for the ship to turn around you will get a good view of the glacier with out the crush of fellow passengers as you can see from my photo

We are still in ketchikan these are shops over a river the gold prospectors used to use them to stock up with all kinds of equipment and at the end there is a house of ill repute if you know what i mean its now a museum

the photo below is a view from our cruise ship the Norwegian sun looking out at other cruise ships in the port of ketchikan as you can see it is a bright and sunny day with whisper clouds

we are now in ketchikan in alaska sitting under a nice shady tree people say alaska is cold not on this cruise its a nice cool 85

This river is the Thomson river named after the explorer

So barren no wonder they made the unforgiven here and it is 40 in the shade not bad for cold Canada

On the train once more this lake was 30 miles long only a small lake

Now this guy was funny a right old dame

When you ride on the rock mountaineer you have an option to go to a local show we chose to go it was called Billy miner the first train robber in Canada this photo was taken watching the show

We are staying in a small motel in kamloops this is the view from our window

Now we are on the rocky mountaineer coming in to a town called kamaloops which is very hot for a place in Canada
they made the film the unforgiven in kamaloops and as you come into the town by train you pass the first nation reservation and you see the church which was used in the film

Just one more mountain with a glacier

Now this is a picture to see the Athabasca glacier this picture was taken at the ice station which is about a mile away at least ,this glacier is one of the biggest in the world where this picture was taken was where the glacier was in 1845 ,you can walk on this glacier or ride on a bus at the bottom of the glacier there is a car park and from there it is a short walk to the Base of it ,be warned it is a dangerous place to be so don't wonder off on your own as in places the ice is 100Mt's crevasses that lie in wait for the unsuspecting,in the last 5 years there have been at least 3 deaths from people falling down them.

again we are looking at the Athabasca river you can imagine that in spring when all the snow and ice melts what an awesome site you would see

now we are near the Athabasca glacier you can see the the Athabasca river that is fed from the glacier that is just around the next bend

the Athabasca falls you really have to see this waterfall to appreciate the power that it generates ,the roar of the water is deafening

view from the boat, we are looking at a small mountain glacier near the town of jasper ,the lake that we are on is lake moraine and we are going 14miles to spirit island on a speed boat its only a small lake

our holiday began when we touched down at Calgary airport from there we went to canmore in the rocky mountains where we stayed in a bed and breakfast travelled all over the rocky mountains ,banff ,lake Louise,lake moraine ,takkacower falls .Then we went to Red deer and spent some time on the plains of Alberta when we where in Red Deer we stayed in a travel lodge from there we went to do some shopping in the biggest mall in the world when we had finished shopping we went back to the rockys to jasper where we spent three days be for caching the train to vancouver .
